Nebahat Kuerzel-Themann is from Germany, and has been living in the US since 1997. She has over 30 years of teaching experience in both Germany and the US, specifically in German literature and German as a language.
She received her PH.D in linguistics/literature and pedagogy from the University of Bielefeld in Germany. Prior to working with Seattle Central’s Continuing Education program, Nebahat taught credit-level German language courses at Bellevue College and Seattle Central College for a number of years.
Her teaching method is based upon an interactive/participative approach of all students. She loves to work with students from the USA and abroad.
I’ve been studying German my own prior to this class and I found it very useful to receive pronunciation feedback and grammar explanations from a native speaker.
It was also good for me to work with other students to practice speaking German — something you can’t really recreate with a computer program like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone.
